The counterfeit drug market has been shown its presence in Bangladesh within the last few years. Without proper regulation of vendors and their suppliers, that counterfeit market has been booming. Substandard, adulterated or counterfeit drugs are spread out all throughout the local dispensaries.
According to Bangladesh RAB(Rapid Action Battalion), counterfeit antibiotic capsules, analgesics such as paracetamol and other essential drugs are made with flour, various toxic chemicals in an unhealthy environment. Their findings included 8-10 fake drug manufacturing companies.
These substandard drugs are lower than their standard counterparts. Midford drug sellers that reported that these low-priced products have a high demand in the wholesale market. However, the retailers sell these fake products at the normal stipulated price.
The harrowing aspect of the ordeal lies in its potential consequence. Must action be taken against crime only after the following accident has gathered enough attention? Gap in regulation allow for this mishaps to take place. Groceries must acquire trade licenses to operate the whereas “pharmacies”. A pharmacy is defined as a shop where medications are a free according to the prescriptions written by the physicians. Moreover, a pharmacist must be present at the premises during all hours of operation.
